Barcelona LiveStream with Mr Valassidis and Mrs Kelly Emotional Intelligence for Leadership and Sales

It has been a pleasure attending the interview with Alex Valassidis and Maria Kelly. Nice friendly environment.

We have discussed how emotional intelligence can develop performance by leveraging on knowing our emotions and triggers in order to gain self-control and maintain calmness and clarity for a better decision-making process.

We rationalised how in practice, caring about the human components in a team will generate cohesion and cooperation toward a shared goal and finally how corporates can gift happiness to their employees and obtain commitment in return. Is a mutual win-win deal.

Corporates and Companies’ commitment to the employees’ wellbeing is not free-coffee or cereals but is a more profound exchange. Is investing in them and being grateful for their time, supporting their people to create and maintain that so-famous work-life balance by implementing in their practice emotional self-understanding and others-understanding.

Real Leadership is this, hoping for the best for humans and taking action toward their wellbeing all around. From the workplace to their inner self, encompassing psychology and emotions.

In terms of Sales, the point was on how to create that human connection before selling, which is a sell-without-selling. For any salesman understanding the client’s needs and emotions about the product or service is crucial to bring reassurance when s/he feels the potential client is sceptical or reinforcing the benefits when s/he realises the service or product is a good addition to their lives.

Importantly, the salesman will not try to sell a boat if someone lives in the desert, so everybody saves time.
When we are ready to sell, the client might not be ready to buy and a good, genuine, authentic human being can understand and accept it, again, regulating emotions the majority of times.

Authenticity is another topic discussed as how Emotional Intelligence can support embracing who You are, using this inner uniqueness as a competitive edge that nobody can match.

Being transparent, natural and unique is a great contribution to wellbeing, reducing stress and adding a degree of tranquillity whilst working.
We do not need to act, a Leader is someone who leads naturally, embraces potential mistakes without hiding, takes responsibility and knows that the real engine of the team are the human’s emotions. Conversely, humans’ bad emotions and conflicts can be the main obstacle to the team’s achievement and success.
Embracing EI training, and making psycho-emotional awareness available (asked or not) means caring about the engine of the vehicle.

Without a healthy engine, no vehicle can run and perform.
