EI Case Study – Brian Wesaala

Brian Wesaala is the founder and CEO of the Football Foundation for Africa, based in Nairobi, Kenya. He is a former United Nations who worked for a decade in Geneva, Switzerland, before consciously deciding to shift his career and commitment and embark on a mission.

Brian decided to change his career toward a bigger purpose, meaning, and to follow his call: the Development of the African reality, primarily impacting the next generation of youth and broadly improving people’s life skills by integrating Education and Football.

In the last five years, his commitment and hard work brought him to become a speaker across Europe and Africa, attending conferences, media interviews, and podcasts and becoming one of the most notable and valuable contributors to the Innovation of Football realities, spanning sports governance, infrastructure, media and broadcasting, and football enterprise education at all levels, from grassroots to elite levels.

We were fortunate to meet virtually, thanks to mutual connections, before the 2023 Africa Football Business Summit in Nairobi, Kenya. After a few chats concerning our life goals and journeys, we agreed on the fact that integrating Emotional Intelligence Awareness into the football industry would be a valuable eye-opener for all football stakeholders, from players, coaches, and administrators, to witness that Mindset Management and Emotional Regulation is a science and it can be trained.

Fuelled by these reasons, Brian kindly hosted me as one of the speakers at the 2023 Africa Football Business Summit.

Brian, in this short but intense interview, shared his perspectives on how Psycho-Emotional training can tangibly improve the performance of the athletes and, consequently, the financial incomes of both athletes and clubs, alongside, on a broader vision, how valuable can be as a life skill tools: decreasing crimes, drugs and alcohol abuses among the youngest generation and beyond, spreading into the whole society.

Once more, I am grateful for being hosted as a speaker at the last Summit in Nairobi, and thanks for helping to spread mental and emotional awareness throughout your channels and connections.

“Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world.” [Address by Mandela at the launch of Mindset Network in July 2003].

Thanks again, Brian, for sharing your inspiring vision!

Enjoy the watching!
